November 30 for 30 Remix Challenge!

Hello beautiful people! I'd been planning this for a while but it's finally time to start my very first 30 for 30 remix challenge!
*cue cheers and applause*
Thank you, thank you! You're far too kind.

Okay. So for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, here's a brief introduction of what the 30 for 30 remix challenge (30x30) is.

30 for 30 Remix Challenge

by Kendi of Kendi Everyday

Choose 30 items from your closet--a mixture of tops, pants, skirts, shorts, dresses, jackets, and shoes--and, for 30 days, create and wear outfits with only those 30 items. You're allowed to accessorize in anyway that you please, so scarves, tights, jewelry, etc. are unlimited! Seems easy right? Well, you also cannot go shopping in those 30 days because the point of the challenge is to "shop your closet". (That last rule is actually optional, but if you've ever seen my closet, you'd understand why that rule is necessary for me.)

And now, drum roll, please, I present to you my 30 items**!
(Actually, 29... because I can't count. My 30th item is a cream blazer that isn't pictured.)

**Okay, so... it's freezing in Albany. For my health, I've decided to add coats as an "accessory". Say what you want about it. I'm not gonna freez my little booty off trying to be cute in my 30x30 items and no coat. Psh.

Stay tuned: if I don't post an outfit a day, I'll post every other day. I hope you'll all enjoy this as much as I think I will. Haha!

P.S. I know today is Halloween, but I literally have no time to do an "on-time" Halloween post. I may take a few flicks of my daytime costume and my weekend costume and put them up on Instagram if I don't get a chance to do a post.

Naturally Naija : Incorporating Cultural Style

What I'm Wearing
Ankara Headwrap: gift from Mom
Earrings, Orange Ring + Teal & Gold Bracelet: ALDO | Necklace: | Brown Bracelet: Borrowed from mi amor
Teal Flower Ring: old | Ankara Flower Pin: DIY gift | Zebra Pin: gift from Mom
Linen Blazer UKFrenchConnection
Cream Blouse: H&M
Purple Pants: H&M
Teal Flats: Qupid from PacSun

I love being Nigerian and I love my culture and all the beauties that come with it. Especially Ankara fabrics and patterns.

The spice that these little Ankara accents (my head wrap and my flower pin) add to my outfit is on fire! I just wish I had more pieces that I could incorporate with my "everyday" clothing. Usually when I get a traditional outfit (dress or skirt & blouse), it's usually too over-the-top and extravagant for school or work.

One of the things on my bucket list is to learn how to sew... even if just using simple sewing patterns to create circle skirts and pants. Once I pick up and develop that skill, I will be unstoppable! *insert maniacal laugh* Mwahahahahahahahaha

2 Ways: The Fall Maxi Skirt

Coincidentally, my friend Erica and I wore maxi skirts on the same day, and I decided that I'd feature her outfit as well since it was such a great summer to fall transitional outfit.

So, for anyone wondering how to wear a maxi skirt in the fall, here are two easy ways to do so while staying warm and chic!

How To Wear A Maxi Skirt In The Fall (My Way)

Simply Chic: A white tee, leather jacket, & statement necklace

What I'm Wearing
Earrings & Necklace: ALDO
Leather Jacket: H&M
White Tee: Wet Seal
Gray Pleated Maxi Skirt: Pacsun
Skinny Black Belt: H&M
Black Wedge Booties: BCBGeneration
Black Handbag: thrifted

How To Wear A Maxi Skirt In The Fall (Erica's Way)

Colorfully Cute & Comfy: Graphic tee, fun plaid button down, and mocassins

What Erica's Wearing
Plaid Button Down: Old Navy

Casual Comfort

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: CR | Scarf: H&M | Ring: Charming Charlie's
Leather Jacket: H&M
Chambray Top: Calvin Klein from Macy's
Denim Shorts: thrifted DIY
Gray Tights: CR
Black Knee High Socks: F21
Combat Boots: H&M

I have been slightly "slacking" and opting for the more effortless style of dress: my casual comfortable "uniform", so to speak--This outfit is semi cute though... but, in all honesty, I just threw it on--I usually don't put much thought into my outfits, but when I'm wearing jeans, you can assume that I put absolutely no thought into what I'm wearing (unless told otherwise, jeans can be cute sometimes)... and usually, that is a consequence of poor time management that I have to suffer whenever school is in the picture. The crux: Do I take the time to look fabulous always or use that time to study, sleep, and just hope I look great when I blindly get dressed the next morning?

Well, I've come up with a slight solution for said problem: stop being so stinking lazy! It's easy to choose to do one thing over another... but who wants to take the easy route when the challenge is staring you dead in the face?

And so, I have decided that I need to stop the madness and continue to be the most fabulous person that I can be.

I have a surprise for the month of November! Stay tuned! I'll most likely announce it sometime in the week before the month starts! I'm excited!! You should be toooooo! ;)
