What To Wear To A Barbecue

What I'm Wearing
Necklace: F21
Cardigan: H&M (my sister's closet)
Leopard Print Blouse: River Island ($11)
Geometric Print Midi Skirt: thrifted ($4)
Oxford Flats: Bass ($20)

'Tis the season to chef it up on the grill! And even though I was not cheffin' nor was I grillin', I was super comfy in the park while burgers and hot dogs were in abundance and the music was on full blast (everyone else was indulging. Me? Taking these pictures.) With Memorial Day literally around the corner, here are a few things to keep in mind while staying cool in the midst of all the heat (by the way, there is NO heat in Albany at the moment. It is freezing. But, I do not fret! Seventy degrees will grace the streets on Monday!

For a backyard barbecue, opt for cute denim! Overalls, cutoff shorts, boyfriend jeans! Your choice! Backyard denim is cute, comfortable and forgiving to any future food stains you may bestow upon it!For a seaside barbecue, let your outfit flow with the wind! Maxi dresses or skirts over your favorite 'kini will do the trick!

VIP Treatment

What I'm Wearing
Necklace: Macy's (my sister's closet)
Bracelets: Friendship bracelets from my besties! (Desiree & Devon)
Cream Shirt: Gap thrifted ($3)
Denim Moto Jacket: Tobi ($30)
Multicolored Harem Pants: Jane Norman ($19)

On the day I wore this outfit, I received VIP treatment from a Very Important Person. This VIP surprised me after work and saved me from imminent starvation with Chipotle (if you only understood how much I adore Chipotle, you would realize how HUGE of a deal that was) and a mini Chocolate Laced shoot, which I totally wasn't expecting (as you can tell in the last picture of me trying, and failing, to rub the blushing off of my cheeks.

Now, these aren't the best pictures I've taken for my blog, but the VIP that took them made them probably the most meaningful, so thank you VIP. You are, indeed, a Very Important Person.

A perfect day for taking pictures: the sun was out, the wind was calm and cooling at exactly the right times, and spring was blooming everywhere! My friends Jasmine and Keishla (Kay-shla) came out with me to take pictures and I took Keishla's MK bag right from under her because it went perfectly with my outfit. ^_^

Photo bomb of the year goes to Kevin (whose name I didn't know until I found him the following day in the library!). He was walking by, saw us taking pictures and said, "Let me get in this." He posed for the picture, then walked away.

When Spring Had Sprung

What I'm Wearing
Head Scarf: old | Jewelry: Assorted
Leather Moto Jacket: H&M (old)
Denim Moto Jacket: Tobi ($30)
Cream Blouse: Old Navy
Blue Midi Skirt: eBay
Gold-Tip Bow Flats: ASOS ($34)
Photos taken on April 25, 2013
My friend Jasmine messaged me a few days before helping me take these and said, "I found the most perfect place to take pictures, but we have to hurry." She told me about how beautiful the flowers blooming looked and I was excited! (She has a good eye, don't you think?) So, we picked this day to go over to shoot.

After taking just seven pictures, my camera's battery died and I had left my backup battery at home. :( But, since the seven that we took look fine, ♪♫♪ I ain't go no worries ♪♫♪!

This spring, I developed a love for layering my leather jacket over any of my denim jackets. I didn't put much thought into it the first time I did it because I was more concerned about not having a light enough jacket that was also warm...so I decided to put on two light jackets. Hey, it worked.

Slate Midi-Skirt: H&M ($20)
Brown Satchel: H&M ($15)

I had a lot of fun taking pictures on this day. Most of that had to do with the fact that I felt so removed from blogging and taking pictures that it was almost uncomfortable for me to be "natural" so I delivered all the most awkward poses I could think of. And it made both me and my friend Jasmine have a good ole laugh.

-By the time this post goes up, I will be DONE with finals. HOW EXCITING!
-TOMORROW is my birthday and my hair is STILL NOT DONE. *nonchalantly hyperventilating*
-I look like a grandmother from the 50s/60s in this outfit an I am okay with that. All this picture needs is to be sepia toned with a couple faded edges and VOILA! An almost authentic Throwback Thursday ;)

-The bottom half of the photo below looked outrageous. I'll take it to my grave with me...and Jasmine of course. Since she took the picture in the first place.
