What I'm Wearing
Earrings & Necklace: diva online | Cuff Bracelet: F21
Romper: H&M ($5)
Bow Belt: H&M ($10)
Pumps: ASOS ($40)

I've never done a nighttime look on my blog, but I've always wanted to. A few weekends ago, I visited my best friend in MA to attend her graduation. That Friday night, there was a party for the seniors and I attended with her. Unfortunately, the party was incredibly whack (thumbs ALL the way down), but I managed to have a good time (just being with her was enough!). I'm not much of a night time person, anyway. I don't party often..but when I do, I tend to keep it simple. I don't like the thought of ruining something I like with a spilled drink from a college student that, literally, can't hold his or her liquor. Nooooo thank you. I'd rather stay home and have a glass of wine.

(Inspiration)
:)

I'm baaaaaaaaaack! (If you'd like, click the inspiration link, and have it play as this post's personal soundtrack. You won't be disappointed.)
It has been a whole two months and, the entire time, I felt like I all my energy was draining from my being. I doubt anyone can truly the extent to which I have missed blogging!

I've been completely swamped with school. (I still have three finals to take, so I'm not completely done YET!) I was taking three programming intensive courses and utilizing three different languages: C, Java, and Assembly. My brain was literally melting and I knew that if I didn't give my studies my FULL attention, I'd have to personally dig the grave to bury my future in. Not something I could say I was looking forward to. So... I took a much needed break and now, 6 days before my birthday, I am here! Back. With outfits I took pictures of in April that I never had time to blog!

I hope you all didn't miss me too much!

Happy Mother's Day
to all the wonderful mommies out there.
We, your daughters, are incredibly happy
to have you in our lives!

On Sunday, January 6, 2013, I did something I could only ever dream of doing: I attended a casting call for ANTM at Colonie Center in Albany. I'd been told time and time again that I should model, but I just never knew how to go about getting in that "industry"...and this was a huge step for me. The night before, I was freaking out, so I looked to my best friends and Facebook, of course, for consolation, advice, and motivation. I was overwhelmed by the amount of support I received and I realized that it really wouldn't hurt to go. And it didn't! I met some amazing people with personalities to match! Now, if I make the show, how fabulous would that be?

I was complimented numerous times on my outfit (which surprised me)! When choosing what to wear, I decided that something too glam would be distracting because the main focus of a casting call is your presence, personality, and performance (as far as your walk and how you present the first two "P's"). A friend of mine had the right idea though, "If you go, just wear your flyest t-shirt and jeans."

And that's what I did!

Don't forget to take my reader survey if you haven't already! (It's at the bottom of that post!)

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: (my sister's closet)
Gold Cuff Bracelet: (my sister's closet) I'm in love with it...
Gold Buttoned Blouse: H&M ($7.50)
Ankara Printed Pants: (my dad's closet) That's a first! Might not be the last!
Nude Pumps: Enzo Angiolini (my sister's closet)
Let's address the fact that the majority of this outfit is a huge thanks to my family's items! Fact addressed. Haha.

On October 1st, my beautiful country, Nigeria, celebrated its 52nd year as a free country. In honor of this special day, I searched my house high and low for a "school-appropriate" outfit. At first, I was just going to wrap my hair like I did here and here, but those scarves have magically disappeared from my closet. No matter how high or low I search, I cannot find them and it saddens me a great deal.

There are many dresses and two piece outfits in my closet, but they were all too formal for the look I was going for. I found myself searching in my brother's closet, but he's a 34 in the waist while I'm a 27. No amount of pinning would've made his clothes flattering.

Eventually, I found myself in my dad's closet where I came across these babies. While examining them, I saw how tiny the waist was made, so called my mother for the back story on these pants. She said she had them made in Nigeria for my dad but they were too small. Well, one person's "too small" is another person's "just right"!

I put them on and fell in love. They fit me perfectly! They are originally straight leg pants but I cuffed the bottom of them and pinned them to created the tapered leg look.

Ta-da!

Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! It's amazing. I moved to America when I was 4, so Niger was only 35 years free then! And both my parents are older than Nigeria's freedom.

P.S. Ankara is the name of the material that the pants are made out of!

Hello, everyone! I feel like my posts have been abnormally prolonged, but I've come up with a solution for that! I've created a theme for every week (for the next four weeks) and I plan on sticking to them! I'll wear an outfit at least 5 days out of the week and blog each day about it!
This week is Tights Week!

Day one of Tights Week (oh, how I wish I had a catchier name for it!) is featuring the MARIAN style shapewear by Vedette Shapewear. I was spotlighted on their blog in August for my flattering outfit that gave me an illusion of hips (which we all know I lack)! A wonderful representative contacted me an offered me the honor of being Blogger Of The Month, giving me the great opportunity to style one shapewear, of my choice, into an outfit. There were so many wonderful pieces to choose from but the Spanish lace detail on the MARIAN was an automatic win for me.

What I'm Wearing
Black Sunglasses: Electric Tonette (gift)
Blush Pink Boyfriend Blazer: H&M ($11)
Black & Silver Detailed Top: c/o Vedette Shapewear
Flower Earrings: Forever 21 (gift)
Black Button Up Skirt: H&M ($7)
Black Tights: Charlotte Russe (2 for $6; $3 ea.)
Floral Pumps: Me Too from DSW ($32)
Pink & Tan Satchel: Victoria's Secret (thrifted gift!)
White Watch: Fossil (my sister's closet)
TOTAL: $53

I love what this shapewear does to my waist! I know I already have a small waist but it gives me the definition I lack, making the appearance of curves more apparent! I wish the effects were lasting! If I could take it off and still have this waist definition, all my dreams would have come true!

I am really excited for this week of tights and I hope you are, too!
