chocolate laced

Yes! Two outfits, two wonderful ladies, one post! The excitement is real, isn't it?! =D
I'll go first!

What I'm Wearing
Infinity Scarf: H&M ($6)
Taupe Cropped Sweater: H&M ($12)
Chambray Button Down: H&M ($5)
Skinny Cargos: H&M ($5)
Denim Legwarmers: DIY! (cute, huh?)
Brown Lace-Up Booties: H&M ($25)

Erica's turn!

What Erica's Wearing
Flower Hair Clip: H&M
Earrings: ALDO
Necklace: (gift)
Red Button Down: H&M (gift)
Cream Cropped Sweater: Forever 21 (thrifted $8)
Harem Pants: Macy's Material Girl ($30)
Legwarmers: Wet Seal ($3)
Olive Wedges: Old Navy ($6) <--- Hers! I was so jealous when she told me the price!

Everyone meet Erica! She is one of my best friends and, many times, the woman behind the camera! We had a sleepover one night and I decided that when we woke up, I would get her all done up for school. So I did her hair, picked out her outfit from my closet, and viola! My very first unofficial styling! How does she look? (From the comments made by other people, "a lot like me" was a very common answer!)

Our looks are just about the same with different color schemes and destination compatibilities. While my look is more casual, hers is more formal. I'd wear my outfit to school while she could wear hers to the office. I thought it was cool how two incredibly similar styles could function so differently.

Tan Boyfriend Blazer: H&M ($15)
Gold Scarf (as headwrap): H&M ($12)
Leopard Scarf: H&M ($12)
Sheer Gold-Button Blouse: H&M ($10)
Olive Shorts: Old Navy ($4)
Nude Tights w/ Orange Accent: H&M Trend (2 for $25)
Gray Thigh High Socks: F21 ($7)
Cream Oxfords: (my sister's closet)

Yes. These pictures were indeed taken with a camera phone! (Not bad, eh?) I wasn't planning on taking pictures on this day (Thursday) but my friend, Adela, wanted to see how I decided to take advantage of the 65 degree weather. I didn't have my camera or tripod handy, so I asked my friend, Erica, to help me take a few pictures with my phone so I could put them up on Facebook & Tumblr. Another friend of mine, Jasmine, took some pictures as well and here I am!

Albany's weather has been fluctuating incomprehensibly! Exhibit A: Today's weather. It started out warm and spring-like, but, at around 9:45 PM, there was a HUGE gust of wind, similar to that of a tornado, that brought the temperature down about 20 degrees. I was outside at the time, so I had the pleasure of experiencing it. And shortly after, it began raining. Yup! And shortly after that the rain turned to ice. All within a 20 minute time frame. So, I had to walk home without an umbrella. I wasn't cold, though. I put my music on blast and danced in the rain. It was great. :)

Wow, 21 days flies by quickly doesn't it?!

Day 21: I want you to take all your newfound fashion confidence and ability and put together a killer outfit and strut your stuff! You betta believe there are bonus points up for grabs here. Work with your own style and come up with something really awesome. It can be over the top or understated or vibrant or monochrome or whatever you want. Create an outfit you're proud of and I will be so very proud of YOU.

I actually am proud of this look! I love how simple things can really make all the difference. The way I style my hair. The jewelry I choose to wear. Patterns and/or solids. I feel casually and comfortably chic! I'm wearing my remix item! This time I'm wearing as a "jacket" or "cardigan" of sorts. It's super lightweight and a tad bit sheer so you can see my vertical stripes through it! I love this tank/dress/shirt/I don't really know what it is! It's my sister's. It reminds me of a circus tent. A very fashionable circus tent. She should let me have it. Hehehe...

What I'm Wearing
Gold Leaf Earrings: Forever 21 ($2)
***Button Down: A'gaci ($5)***
Vertical Striped Top: H&M (my sister's closet)
Racer-back Tank (underneath): (gift)
Stacked Bracelets: Icing (5 for $2)
Black Bracelet: Icing ($2)
Skinny Cargos: H&M ($5)
TOMS: (my sister's closet)
TOTAL: $16

My inconspicuous use of a normal nude-colored bra is brought to you by Strap Perfect! I don't know if any of you own it, but I suggest you buy some! (This is not a sponsored post!) It works really well. I wouldn't lie to you! Who wants to worry with peek-a-boo straps when wearing a racer back tank? Not this girl!

This challenge has made getting dressed so much easier! I'm really going to miss it! Most of the time putting outfits much quicker than usual. Other times I wanted to rip my hair out! Kayla of Freckles In April has been a wonderful challenge host and I really hope she does something like this again! I had so much fun!

How do you like my bandeau top? Guess what?
It's a scarf!
Day 6. Get Creative.
Day 6: I want you to think outside the box and wear something in an unconventional way. Wear a skirt as a dress or a shirt. Wrap a necklace around your wrist a and wear it as a bracelet. Use a men's tie as a belt. Do something cool with a scarf. It's up to you- be creative!

I must admit, I was completely stumped by this challenge. I had less than a handful of ideas, most of them my closet wouldn't allow me to do. This challenge asks us to step out of the box and wear an article of clothing as something other than what it's meant for. I tried two outfits priorto choosign this one and the creative wears I came up with for those gave me great ideas for future outfits!

What I'm Wearing
Jewelry: gifted (my Mom's collection)
Chambray Top: Calvin Klien Jeans from Macy's ($17)
Floral Bandeau Top/Scarf: Wet Seal ($8)
Paperbag High-Waisted Pants: Macy's ($8)
Strappy Wedges: De Blossom from Tilly's ($11)
TOTAL: $44

I guess I did something cool with a scarf. I wrapped the scarf around myself and tied a very tight double knot in the front. I liked the way the scarf initially draped from the knot (see the first picture), but I decided to take the drapery and "stylishly" cover up the exposed.

Can we talk about my shoes for a minute? The style first: I LOVE wedges. "Man invented heels. Woman invented wedges." My friend said that to me and she couldn't be more right! Wedges are the flats of height! The most comfortable "heels" ever! Especially these. I bought them online, on sale, from Tilly's and for them to fit and feel the way they do (without any trying before buying), I'm completely satisfied. I walked around for hours in these babies and I could walk some more! These shoes were made for walking!

The hairstyle I've been waiting for is finally on my head! Drum roll, please!
*drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr*

Ta-da!

Four hours: the shortest amount of time that I've ever had to sit in a chair to get braids. The last time I got braids in my hair, I was visiting Nigeria, they were one TENTH the size of these and it took 21 hours to do! I am very please with the outcome. How do you like my new hair?

For some reason, I have developed a slight obsession with the combination of olive and denim/chambray.

What I'm Wearing
Denim Vest: H&M (closet swap)
Earrings: F21 ($2)
Cropped Tee: DIY
Skinny Cargos: H&M ($5)
Flats: Steve Madden (gift)
Necklaces: F21 ($6) & CR (my sister's closet)
Watch: Fossil (gift)
Bangles & Bracelets: yard sale ($2 ea. x2) & (my sister's closet)
Backpack: Thrifted ($13)
TOTAL: $30

Readers: Question!

I've been really fascinated by color combinations lately and I want to make a visual chart of aesthetic, eye-catching combos as a reference if I'm ever feeling like I need a little more inspiration for an outfit. With that said, what are your favorite color combos (to see/wear)? Please answer below! I'll be greatly appreciative!
