chocolate laced

Coincidentally, my friend Erica and I wore maxi skirts on the same day, and I decided that I'd feature her outfit as well since it was such a great summer to fall transitional outfit.

So, for anyone wondering how to wear a maxi skirt in the fall, here are two easy ways to do so while staying warm and chic!

How To Wear A Maxi Skirt In The Fall (My Way)

Simply Chic: A white tee, leather jacket, & statement necklace

What I'm Wearing
Earrings & Necklace: ALDO
Leather Jacket: H&M
White Tee: Wet Seal
Gray Pleated Maxi Skirt: Pacsun
Skinny Black Belt: H&M
Black Wedge Booties: BCBGeneration
Black Handbag: thrifted

How To Wear A Maxi Skirt In The Fall (Erica's Way)

Colorfully Cute & Comfy: Graphic tee, fun plaid button down, and mocassins

What Erica's Wearing
Plaid Button Down: Old Navy
Graphic Tee: Express
Navy Maxi Skirt: H&M
Moccassins: Minnetonka

So, don't pack away your maxi skirts so quickly! They're made for colder days, too, you know?!
♥ Until next time! ♥

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: ALDO
Necklace: Forever 21
Blouse: Old Navy
Pleated Maxi Skirt: CR

Ever since IFB's blog post about the outfit photo locations you could find anywhere, I've been on a mission to find at least one of each of them in Albany. So, when I was getting a ride home from a friend of mine and we drove by this wall, I was very excited that I could cross one place of that list.

Some of you may know, some of you may not, but, along with being a blogger, I am a poet. And, because of this, I find the symbolism in this image to be pretty, for lack of a more sufficient term, tough. I could decide weather the hand is holding a pen that is full of ink or a scalpel cutting through something and showing it's interior but, either way, I think there is so much more to this piece of artwork than meets the eye.

What I'm Wearing
Pashmina: XSRE | Earrings & Necklace: Charming Charlie's
Leather Paneled Black Peach Skin Coat: ROMWE ($45)
Sweater: H&M ($7.50)
Sparkly Open Cardigan: Old Navy ($4)
Pleated Leather Skirt: H&M ($10)
Tights: Express (gift)
Legwarmers: H&M
Suede Wedges: BCBG (my sister's closet)

So, what's with all the black, you ask? Well, I wore this out on my best friend and part time photographer, Erica's 21st birthday! Happy (bleated) birthday bestie!

I rarely wear all black, but when I do, I try to give dimension to the outfit by either adding a pop of color or by wearing a variety of textures. In this case, I did both! The pictures aren't all that great this time (SORRY!) but the pop of color is in my necklace, which none of the pictures do complete justice. It's fricking awesome. (And it was dirt cheap. I just forgot the price...my memory is failing me!) As for textures, there's leather, wool, suede, and even sparkly cotton!! Haha, I tried... plus, I didn't want my outfit to take away any attention from my beautiful Erica! I styled her outfit! Here she is in a lovely orange chambray button down from Old Navy and my Romwe cranberry asymmetrical skirt! (I did her hair and makeup, too!)

What I'm Wearing
Aviator Sunglasses: H&M ($1)
Earrings: Forever 21
Necklace: Charming Charlie
Cuff Bracelet: Forever 21
Leather Jacket: H&M (gift)
Dress (worn as top): H&M (gift)
Pleated Leather Skirt: H&M ($10)
Tights: H&M ($9)
Black Studded Loafers: Zigi Soho (my sister's closet)

My leather jacket has easily become my most overused item and I'm not mad about that at all. You'll see at least two more looks with it, but after that I promise I'll change it up! It's just so stinkin awesome!

This day was a great one. I went out to eat with a friend of mine (Denzel is his name) and then I kindly asked him to help me with taking pictures of my outfit. He did an amazing job as you can see! He's hired! Haha. After we took pictures, we spent the day relaxing in good company and ended the night with a little poetry. Yup! Chocolate Laced is also a bit of a slam poet!
