how to wear a midi skirthow to wear a midi skirthow to wear a midi skirt

What I'm Wearing
Necklaces: H&M | Earrings: ALDO | Bracelets: F21 | Blazer: New York & Company
Dress: H&M (worn as top) | Skirt: boohoo.com [want it?] | Flats: DSW [want it?]| Purse: bebe

I love my mini skirts just as much as the next long-legged lady, but lately, I've been showing some love and appreciation for my midis. The length and the silhouette of this particular one is among my favorites. It's so comfortable, chic, and it creates the illusion of a more curvaceous figure; I've been praying for curves my whole life!

A midi skirt, by Chocolate Laced Definition, is any length between your knees and your lower calf. It can be pencil, full, pleated and so forth, but as long as it falls within the aforementioned range, I will consider it a midi—for short. And, although some people may disagree, I think that there is a midi out there for every body type! Remember, when you're reppin' your style, the most important article you could wear is confidence. Confidence can make just about ANYTHING look good. (Message!)

But, keep in mind, if you have:
a boyish, straight or V-shaped figure, a full midi skirt, like the one I have on, will create the illusion of a fuller lower half
an hourglass or pear-shaped figure, a pencil midi skirt will love your curves and slim you down

This was my first shoot in a very long time... so, it took me a little while to get back in my "groove". While choosing which of my pictures to use for this post, I watched as I went from super-de-duper awkward to wannabe superstar. It was amazing to see.

What I'm Wearing
Head Scarf: H&M | Earrings: my sister's closet | Necklace: old
Trench Coat: H&M (thrifted $7)
Cream Scarf: F21
White Button-Up: H&M (my sister's closet)
Slate Midi-Skirt: H&M ($20)
Brown Satchel: H&M ($15)
Oxford Style Flats: Kimichi Blue (ebay)

I had a lot of fun taking pictures on this day. Most of that had to do with the fact that I felt so removed from blogging and taking pictures that it was almost uncomfortable for me to be "natural" so I delivered all the most awkward poses I could think of. And it made both me and my friend Jasmine have a good ole laugh.

THIS JUST IN:
-By the time this post goes up, I will be DONE with finals. HOW EXCITING!
-TOMORROW is my birthday and my hair is STILL NOT DONE. *nonchalantly hyperventilating*
-I look like a grandmother from the 50s/60s in this outfit an I am okay with that. All this picture needs is to be sepia toned with a couple faded edges and VOILA! An almost authentic Throwback Thursday ;)

-The bottom half of the photo below looked outrageous. I'll take it to my grave with me...and Jasmine of course. Since she took the picture in the first place.

This week has been incredibly hectic for me. I've immersed myself in camp work to the point where I barely have time for anything else! I'm as energetic as the energizer bunny while at camp but once I step into my house, every last bit of energy that I have is used to walk me over to my bed. Today, I decided that I needed to get things done! I finally got to shipping the items that I sold on eBay. I made an appointment to get my hair done next Saturday and I bought a hot/neon pink dolman sleeved crop top that I thought would go well as my neon + neutral look. It was on sale for $10 at sears and the fit was too cute to boot.

In an attempt to try something new, I threw on this colbat blue midi skirt that I bought new from eBay, the striped cream lace and gray tank that I got as a birthday gift, and the leopard bow belt that I bought on sale from ASOS. This outfit was worn solely for the sake of comfortability and boy, was I comfy.

What I'm Wearing

Earrings: (gift)
Tank Top: Forever 21 (gift)
Belt: ASOS ($6)
Chiffon Skirt: eBay ($9)
Sandals: Payless ($13)
Bracelets, Ring & Watch: Assorted (~$5)
TOTAL: ~$33
