chocolate laced

The day has finally come! Chocolate Laced Boutique has arrived!
Chocolate Laced Boutique will serve looks of both the vintage and current variety, offering gently-used and meticulously selected garments that I love and will be very happy to provide to someone who will love as much as I do, if not more. You, too, can be Chocolate Laced ;).
If you don’t already know, I am a huge advocate for affordable and sustainable fashion. That’s why I thrift. Aside from the one-of-a-kind styles that loudly whisper me over to adopt them into my closet, and the comfort it provides me and my bank account, thrifting/recycled fashion helps the planet.
FACT TIME:
Did you know that of the 25 billion pounds of textiles* produced by the US each year—that’s 82 pounds per person in the country—only 15% (12 lbs/person) gets donated or recycled while the rest goes to our landfills! That is about 21 billion pounds of textiles YEARLY.
*Textiles refers to [insert spectrum of textiles here] (Linked source, year)
So, if you are someone who cares about our home and nurturer (Mother Earth) and wants it to be here for our descendants and successors, remember that everything that you do counts. Just as the planet nurtures and provides for us, we must do the same. Reciprocity. And the more people we can inspire to do something little, the better. Renew. Reuse. Recycle!
In honor of the grand opening of Chocolate Laced Boutique (CLB), enjoy 15% off your entire purchase on Etsy (code: GRAND) and 15% off when you buy two or more items on Poshmark!

The OLD:

Chocolate Laced began as an outlet for me to record and develop my personal sense of style.
That part is here to stay.
I have grown into a style that feels like a true representation of who I am and I understand that it will continue to change because, like me, my style is a living entity. Hehe. So, I will still share my outfits, my tips and my tricks to putting unique looks together [quickly], my shopping secrets so that you can keep most of your money in your wallet, as well as anything else that may be helpful to you (and my future children).

Here’s what’s NEW:
Style Challenges

To shake things up a bit, I will be presenting the occasional—and possibly frequent—style challenge. *I said that with my best Price Is Right announcer voice.* Feel free to reread the sentence with that effect. Lol, have fun.

My intention is to create a resource for anyone out there who may need inspiration or guidance on how to wear that piece that they love... you know? The same one that has been stuck on the hanger or shelf since purchase. I got you, love. It’s also a fun way for me to switch up my getting dressed routine and it pushes me to think outside of my box.  My first Style Challenge was the Headwrap Challenge (check out my Instagram and Facebook for those outfits.) My next one will be Black & White Patterns. Stay tuned for those outfits! They'll be posted on the 'gram individually, but I will have the compilation post here!

Seasonal Capsule Closet

I love a good bargain, but when I love a hundred good bargains...is that even a bargain anymore?? In order to keep my shopping habits at bay, I have decided to dedicate one month per SEASON as my “Capsule Closet” Month. That's four months each year y'all. Can I do it? Yes, I can! *speaking it into existence*

During each Capsule Closet month, I will not spend A DOLLAR. A QUARTER. A DIME. A NICKEL. A PENNY. on any clothing items or accessories. I’ll admit to you right now that I am hella nervous. I have no idea how this is going to pan out. I will be completely open and honest all the way through. And I hope that many of you will join me on this journey. #CapsuleClosetMonth
Chocolate Laced Boutique (CLB)

Over the years, I have been asked countless times:
“Where do you shop?”
And the answer is: everywhere that I can go without giving my left toe as payment. I’m a thrift shop queen, my love. If you want to take me shopping, Salvation Army, Goodwill, Savers, and the occasional "in-the-cut" Mom-N-Pop thrift shops are my go-to. And then, of course, Zara’s in-store sale sections. *drools*
In the spirit of sharing my keen eye for fabulous pieces at thrift shops and saving our planet from textile waste, I am opening up an online boutique! Chocolate Laced Boutique (CLB) will officially launch on Etsy and Poshmark on August 31, 2019! That's literally this Saturday. YAY! I’ve been anticipating its launch since... a very long time ago.

I’ve chosen Poshmark and Etsy because of ease, but I eventually want to evolve and be able to host my own e-commerce website. Baby steps though. On Poshmark, you’ll find current brands/styles and on Etsy, you’ll find the vintage brands/styles.
And for my loyal supporters, there will be a coupon code sent straight to your email that will rock your socks! Make sure you've subscribed and you're following on Instagram and/or Facebook to get those codes!
Soooooo…. tell me! What do you think? Are you as excited as I am?!
