I knew it was going to be hot this day but, BOY oh BOY, I was not ready for the humidity!

Thankfully, my dress was airy, breathable, and cay-UTE! Hehe. I didn't plan on taking pictures of this outfit because I had to work, but my lovely photographer managed to capture several candids that I actually liked. (This is less about his skills and more about the terrible faces I make regularly.

Here's a tip, though: When wearing a black sleeveless dress, steer clear of green bra straps. I missed that memo... obviously. *facepalm*

I had a managers' meeting at work on this day, but I was off as soon as it was over. I wanted to uphold the company's dress code while I was there, but still have something easy, cute, and COOL to wear because the sun was beating down on me like I stole something from it! So, this was my solution.

I wore these shorts underneath my maxi skirt and succeeded in creating two independent looks. One for the daytime and one for later. These shorts were a birthday gift to myself and I had purchased them to go with the blazer I wore with this outfit. I'm absolutely in love with them and I can't wait until I can wear the suit. (Special occasion needed!)

Saved for A Rainy Day: Geo-Print Trench

What I'm Wearing
Oval Clip-On Earrings: thrifted | Bracelets: Assorted | Necklace: Charming Charlie's
Geo-Square Trench Coat: Talbots | White Button Down Blouse: Talbots | Denim Zip Crops: Macy's
White Belt: Long time loan* | White Oxfords: PacSun

*Thanks Erica! (Hehe, I'll give it back >_> or buy you a new one ^_^)

Okay, so we're staying away from black on rainy days, right? If I had it the way I planned, even my umbrella wouldn't have been black... but I had to draw a line somewhere...

And yes, I said "planned" because when I saw this trench coat, my heart spoke to me. She said, in the sweetest voice I'd ever heard,

"Stephanie, you know she belongs in your closet, right? It'll be a rainy spring, you know? She looks like she's yearning to protect you from getting drenched. That's a nice looking trench!"

And from that point on, I developed the urge to splurge. Usually, I wouldn't have spent as much for anything as I did for this amazing trenchcoat, but, after two wears (and many to come in the future), it was sooooo worth it! (In the comments, take a guess at how much I paid.) And once I purchased it, I started to plan all my future outfits. I'm still looking for the perfect umbrella! I found one on totes but it sold out before I could snatch it up!

I had so much fun taking pictures in the rain! More than I anticipated!

Until next time!

Longer Hemlines: Me & My Leather Midi Skirt

What I'm Wearing
Necklaces: H&M | Earrings: ALDO | Bracelets: F21 | Blazer: New York & Company
Dress: H&M (worn as top) | Skirt: boohoo.com [want it?] | Flats: DSW [want it?]| Purse: bebe

I love my mini skirts just as much as the next long-legged lady, but lately, I've been showing some love and appreciation for my midis. The length and the silhouette of this particular one is among my favorites. It's so comfortable, chic, and it creates the illusion of a more curvaceous figure; I've been praying for curves my whole life!

A midi skirt, by Chocolate Laced Definition, is any length between your knees and your lower calf. It can be pencil, full, pleated and so forth, but as long as it falls within the aforementioned range, I will consider it a midi—for short. And, although some people may disagree, I think that there is a midi out there for every body type! Remember, when you're reppin' your style, the most important article you could wear is confidence. Confidence can make just about ANYTHING look good. (Message!)

But, keep in mind, if you have:
a boyish, straight or V-shaped figure, a full midi skirt, like the one I have on, will create the illusion of a fuller lower half
an hourglass or pear-shaped figure, a pencil midi skirt will love your curves and slim you down

This was my first shoot in a very long time... so, it took me a little while to get back in my "groove". While choosing which of my pictures to use for this post, I watched as I went from super-de-duper awkward to wannabe superstar. It was amazing to see.
