Trends: Do They Truly Ever Die?

What I'm Wearing
Necklace & Earrings: ALDO
Leaf Cuff Bracelet: ASOS
Watch: Fossil
Blue Dress (worn as top): H&M (50% off $24.95)
Cream Ribbed Riding Pants: H&M (50% off $24.95)

Brown Penny Loafers: H&M (Sale $8)

Now, I know in the eyes of the fashion world moguls, they'd see me on the street and probably scoff a remark like, "Those shoes are so two seasons ago," but do trends really ever die (or pass)? I think NOT! And if they do, they just get reincarnated a few seasons later!

I remember when double denim was absolutely repulsive but now it's all the rave. Well, I didn't have the funds to pursue this trend while it was trending (and while these shoes were $50) but, once everyone forgot about it and I was able to snag the last pair in my size for only $8, I thought why not? They're cute!

I've had these shoes since the beginning of spring and I finally wore them out (on Sunday). I should no longer be surprised by the fact that it takes me so long to wear an item after I buy it. But, on a more positive note to steer you away from my closet hoarding, my past 5 outfits all had at least one item that I had never worn out before! Yaaaay for change!

Cupid Shuffle and Scallop Hemlines

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: Forever 21 ($5) [shop]
Ring: H&M ($4)
Necklace & Bracelets: Icing
Peter Pan Collar & Scallop Hemline Top: H&M ($18)
High-Waisted Skinny Pants: Macy's ($10)
Leather Basket Cork Wedges: Tilly's ($11)

So, I spent my entire Friday walking up and down the hills of Albany and dancing with graduated fifth graders. It was incredibly fun (the dancing part, NOT the hills!) I love dancing. I really believe it keeps me young. I'm actually dancing right now. Seriously. (The first picture is an awesome candid. I was smiling because someone caught me taking pictures. So much for being incognito!)

My closet is fully equipped with super awesome pieces that have never seen the light of day. This top used to be one of them but, luckily, it escaped today. I have a slight unexercised obsession for scallop hemlines. I really do wish I had more. I've seen so many cool DIY projects online, but I don't have the patience to tackle them myself. I think I'll just keep slaking eBay until I can get my hands on another piece. Sounds like a plan to me!

Staying Cool In The Heat of the Jungle

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: Icing ($2)
Tan Tribal Top: Forever 21 (my sister's closet)
Abstract Print Pants: H&M ($7)
Leopard Loafers: Steve Madden (my other sister's closet)

So, all my friends made fun of the fact that on Wednesday, the hottest day of the week, I chose to wear pants. Of course, my sublty argumentative nature led me to rebuttle:
1. The pants were very loose fitting and far from my body in the areas that it needed to be. They didn't make me uncomfortable at all!
2. I actually felt a bit of relief in the pants because they blocked my skin from direct sunlight, so I was cooler than people showing skin!
3. It was hot! And no matter what I wore, I'd still be just as hot.... checkmate. :)

I took another stab at mixing prints and, this time, I added these leaopard loafers that belong to my sister. I figured it would go because it's the same color scheme as my top and almost the same pattern as my bottoms, plus, it adds the jungle effect it my outfit (along with the crazy wilderness behind me!)

Hope you're all staying cool! What's your favorite thing to wear in the summer sun?

"You Can't Take Pictures Here..."

What I'm Wearing
Earrings: (gift from Mom)
Sunglasses: Electric Tonette (gift)
Arm Candy & Rings: Assorted
Electric Blue Blazer: H&M ($13; 50% off $24.95)
Striped Box Dress: H&M (thrifted $8)
Leather Belt: came with these Leather H&M shorts
Studded Flats: Carlos Santana (my sister's closet)

I have come to the conclusion that my closet needs more shoes of COLOR. So, on Tuesday, I went to the mall with that in mind. My lovely friend, Erica, helped me search but, unfortunately, with the budget I was on, we were completely out of luck.

We left the mall and I remembered that I needed to take pictures of my outfit (I carry my camera & tripod everywhere I go), so I found this brick wall outside the mall and thought it'd be a pretty nice backdrop. Erica helped me take the pictures so I didn't have to run back and forth chasing the timer.

We took a lot of pictures (I like having choices) and when we were nearing the end of the shoot, mall security approached us and told us we weren't allowed to take pictures because the mall is private property. Doesn't that suck? He was very nice about it and I didn't feel too bad afterwards. And I got way more than enough shots. I actually had TOO much to choose from... which is never a bad thing!

Discovering Albany!

What I'm Wearing
Black Chandelier Earrings: gift
Necklace: H&M ($10)
Black Lace Motorcycle Jacket: H&M ($15)
Floral Dress (worn as top): Papaya (gift)
Black Skirt: H&M (eBay $12)
Bracelets: Gold - (my sister's closet); black (Icing $2)
Sequinned Flats: Steve Madden ($40)
Pink & Tan Satchel: Victoria's Secret (thrifted gift)

I have lived in Albany, New York for the past 4+ years and it has proved to be the most lackluster city... until today, that is. I was on a different mission today. I actually went looking for the beauty in Albany and it has been sitting under my nose this entire time. Albany is seriously beautiful. One just has to be open to finding it.

I found out that the tallest building in NY (outside of NYC) is right here in Albany. And on the top floor, they allow visitors to observe Albany at sky view! Amazing, is it not?! I'm really interested in photography, so I tried my hand at a few shots. This is Albany.

I didn't go on this adventure alone! My friend Michael accompanied me and he enjoyed the bird's eye view just as much!

P.S. I've had this dress for SO long. My best friend gave it to me about 3 years ago (maybe more, I'll ask her!) and this is the first time I'm wearing it! I just love the print, I don't know why it took me so long to wear it. Jeez.
